Cheerleading Tryouts to be held

 The 2009 DePue Junior High School Cheerleading Tryouts will be held on March 19th at 3:30 p.m. in the gym. Any interested 5th, 6th, and 7th graders are invited to an Open Gym practice on March 16th from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Girls are asked to prepare 1 sideline cheer to perform with another student, and up to 6 girls in a group can perform 1 floor cheer. Sadie Hawkins

 "A Black and White Affair" was the theme of the 2009 Sadie Hawkins dance at DePue High School. Sponsored by the Student Council, the dance was held on February 28th from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Student Council decorated the gym with black and white decorations with silver and red accents. Marryin’ Sam (Mr. Hamilton) was on hand to hitch couples while DHS Math Teacher Mr. Clanin was the Sadie’s Jailer. Photos were taken and music was provided by Music on Occassion out of Mendota. Seniors Israel Serrano and Marisol Gavina were elected Lil’Abner and Daisey Mae for the evening. Chaparones for the evening included Mrs. Ballard, Mr Hamilton, Mr. Clanin, Mr. and Mrs. Erickson, Mr and Mrs. Butler, and Mrs. Schroeder, Student Council sponsor.

Student Council Holds Movie Night

 The DJHS Student Council Held a Movie Night February 21st.

DJHS Spelling Bee

 Congratulations to Michael Rodriguez,  7th grader and Eduardo Quintana, 8th grader who earned 6th and 8th place respectively at the February 24th Bureau County Spelling Bee. Spelling Bee sponsor, Miss Enbom was very please with both participants. Alternates 8th grader Victor Calderon and 7th grader Lexi Miranda also accompanied the participants to the Spelling Bee at the Bureau County  Metro Center.

 

 

 

Sadie Hawkins to be Held

The DePue High School Student Council will hold the annual Sadie Hawkins dance on Saturday February 28th from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Tickets will be $15.00 per couple and $8.00 per single and can be purchased at the door the night of the dance. The theme this is year is "A Black and White Affair" and will feature Black and white decor include palm trees, picture settings and a disco ball lighting system. Music will be provided by "Music on Occassion" out of Mendota. Students are encouraged to bring their favorite CD’s as well to share. "Marry’in Sam" will be on hand to marry up couples for $1.00 and the Sadie’s jail will be in full swing, where you can put your favorite person in jail for 50 cents and they have to pay $1.00 to get out. Soda will be available for purchase. Snacks will be provided by Student Council. Students will vote on a Daisey Mae and Lil’ Abner (King and Queen) of the dance who will be crowned at 10:00 p.m. Pictures will be available from 7:30-9:30 p.m. too. DJHS Spelling Winners

The annual DePue Junior High School Spelling Bee was held in the gym Wednesday February 11th. Organized by Language Arts teacher Miss Diana Enbom, Judges were Mrs. Robbie Butler and Mrs. Dixie Schroeder Language Arts teachers from DJHS. Winner for the 8th grade was Eduardo Quintana while winner for the 7th grade was Michael Rodriquez. Students will compete February 24th at the annual Bureau County Spelling Bee held at the Bureau County Metro Center in Princeton. Congratulations and good luck!

 

DJH Student Council

The DePue Junior High School Student Council is hosting their first "Movie Night" for the 08-09 school year on February 20th. "Kung Fu Panda" will be the movie shown in the gym starting at 7:00 p.m. on Friday February 20th. For $5.00 students will get to see the movie, get popcorn, drinks, and a slice of pizza.
