Journalism Statebound

The DePue High School Journalism Team particiated in the 6th annual IHSA Sectional Journalism competition on April 24th. Seniors Lorena Escatel, Cortland Klinefelter, Diana Lopez and Junior Ashley Izaguirre attended the day long competition held at Peoria Richwoods High School. Escatel participated in the News Writing and Copy Editing catagories. Lopez choose her specialty which was Feature Photography, a two round event. Klinefelter participated in Sports Writing and Editorial Cartooning events. Izaguirre went with Editorial Writing and Review Writing. Competing against 9 other schools including LaSalle-Peru and Pontiac; the DePue students performed well. Izaguirre received a 3rd place ranking in Editorial Writing and Klinefelter a 3rd place ranking in Sports Writing. By virtue of these performances Izaguirre and Klinefelter will be competing on April 30th at the IHSA State Journalism Competition. Congratulations to all DePue students for their efforts and wish good luck to the state bound students.
